Help

Okay guys so I am about to cry.
I am new to the hobby. I decided to order an Oceanic Bio Cube 29 gallon HQI. The first one I got was completely shattered and I nearly sliced my finger off. I just got the new one today. I put on the clamp on light and I heard a snap. I didn't think anything of it at first. Then I started to fill it with water to do a leak test. Well lets just say I have my own mini Niagara Falls. Apparently when I was putting on the light I cracked the whole back of the tank. I am so upset and feel like an idiot. I was just wandering if you guys could help. The back is plastic and I was wondering if I could use some sort of silicone to close up the crack. The crack is down the whole back of the tank. Any suggestions would really help.
Thanks in advance.

WOW....I am really sorry to hear that.....I don't think you can fix a crack like that......arethe sides siliconed in? You might be able to take the whole back off and re-silicone a new piece in there.....NOT SURE, BUT I am sure others will know what to do

I would send it back and say it came broken.
You could silicone it, but honestly, I wouldn't, I'd send it back.

I think I would be calling the company if this is a new tank. It should not have cracked that easily. My husband has a 29g biocube also and it has been a great tank, no problems at all. My daughter has the exact same tank and it has been a nightmare! We bought hers used, it was 4 months old and it had a hairline leak and lots of problems with the lights and fan. From what I am hearing it is hit or miss with these tanks.
Welcome to the hobby and the forum. Don't let this deter you from the wonderful hobby.

I was thinking about bringing it back but the only problem is I ordered it online. The first one I got was shattered and they sent me a whole new one. Now I am going to have to call them again and its not going to be a fun call. I think that would probably be the best bet. Thanks for advice everyone.

Blame it on the shipper. There are many people on this forum who know first hand how band UPS and FedEx can be with things like fish tanks.

Welcome to the hobby...one suggestion..send it back..go glass. It sounds like it's a piece of garbage to start with.

BioCubes are NOT bad systems and are made of glass. The issue here is the back of the tank, where the sump and refugium is housed, this is made of plastic. IMO, there was probably already a crack in the plastic that you didn't see and it got worse once you clamped on the lighting fixture. The BioCube HQI 29 gallon is actually a great system, especially if you're new to the hobby. Sorry you're having such a terrible experience before you even start.

I agree with BTL. it may have already had a weak spot or hairline crack. I would send it back again. Sorry for all the trouble.

I agree that the BioCubes are not bad systems. It could be issues due to shipping (maybe the gorillas are playing catch with them).

I wouldn't put in past them. I can't even count the amount of times that I received a package from FedEx and something was wrong with it. I already called the company I ordered it from and they are sending me another new one. I just had to ship back the lights and thanks to the ice storm we got in Central PA I slipped and fell on my but on my way to return them. I almost have a feeling like someone up above really doesn't want me to get this tank set up.
