ok well i was wanting to see some peoples clams lol i also have 2 croceas but i like my huge squamosa the best....
its a super fast grower and as u can see its already huge my yellow tang is about 3.5"s so u figure it out
its a squamosa which gets really big and grows really fast compared to the crocea and maxima clams....
u could get a smaller one but liek i said these kind grow really large
but i like there markings
hmm, when you say alk..what is the ideal range?...also would a calcium reactor be a good investment to control the calcium?..what area of southern cali are you from by the way?
well as far as alk is concerned natural sea water runs between 7-8 dkh but i keep mine between 8 - 9 which i find is great with a calcium of 400-420ppm
i run a dual stage MRC calcium reactor on my 180g tank its so much easier to keep up with the calcium demands in a larger tank that has both clams and sps which need lots of calcium and alkalinity to continue to grow and live properly
so IMO its a great investment if ur plans are to go sps and clams otherwise if u jsut get a smaller clam or 2 and mostly lps and softies u could probably dose the 2 just fine
Well since no one has posted a pic of their clam other then you murph, I'll give it a go. I have one crocea for right now, but I deffinately want to get a couple more! Nice clams by the way!

Seannmelly,
Awesome pics. I just had to tell you that I love your pics. Any time I see you have a new post, I have to look. Your tank is awesome.
Murph, didn't want to leave you out. That clam is huge, nice pic.

Nice clam. are there two diffrent clams there or do they change colors. I am thinking about getting 2 clams for my 135g. I really like the colors in a lot of them.

Here is a picture of the clam I had in my 24gal nano under 150watts of metal halide. It is much bluer in person and more colorful, sorry about the quality of the camera/picture.
