Hermit Crab Introduction

Anyone have any ideas on how long an aquarium should be running (established ) before introducing Blue legged or Electric blue banded hermits ? Im wondering in lieu of their diet.

You can introduce them as soon as your tank is finished cycling.

I would introduce them any time after stocking the tank with livestock. You could do it sooner, but that would mean feeding them exclusively, which defeats the purpose of having them... lol!

There is plenty of stuff for them to feed on without having to add food. A pinch of flake food a couple times a week till you start stocking with fish wouldn't hurt though.

Add the fish food to feed the bacteria to keep their populations up while you have no fish.

Hermits live just fine eating the algae off the rocks.
