Very interesting reading, especially considering the fact that as kids and teenagers, I and all my friends practically lived in the local lakes and bayous in the summertime, swimming and skiing and such.
I suppose we are lucky that none of us were ever attacked by these monster amoebas.

Well 33 deaths in 10 years isn't that bad when you think about how many kids play in the water each year and the fact that these guys are basically everywhere.

I think that is something else. These guys go up your nose when you're swimming in warm freshwater, so remember, just plug your nose...
