I'm converting my 55 to a reef. I've already got my new lights (2 96 watt pc's) & 150 pds. of southdown. I'm wondering about the dsb. I've heard that I need a larger grain size on the bottom of the tank or I will have problems w/ it "clogging" up a few years down the road. I'm just looking for your personal opinion because you seem to be the leading dsb expert. Can I use 100% southdown?

100% Southdown will work great.
Placing coarse grain sand on the bottom makes no sense to me. It will just rise up to the top over time.

Thanks for the reply Bang. Sorry it took so long to read been working too much. Is it possible to get a handful of yours to seed my new set up when I start? I'm willing to pay for sand & or shipping.
