i put a snail in my mantis tank today and she didnt go after it.she looks sick.i tested the water 1.026 salinity, zero ammonia and nitrites.8.4 ph
she is really pale in color.right now she is back hoeing crushed coral in front of her pcv home.is she going to shed? or should i be worried?

i was going to take a pic of the remains for you but ,i got home from work and cant find any.they must eat the skeleton?
she is just hiding out in her cave now.i will try some krill tomorrow.
guess this means she will get bigger now.

hey joe,my mantis dont look so good.she shed and still looks pale.she is very lethargic.there are 4 snails in the tank she wont eat.the water is good although the salt is at 1.028 .not sure how it got that high.i am making fresh r/o now and will lower it.i wonder if thats it?

I don’t think it’s the salinity my mantis was shipped with really high salinity. Have you tried krill? And you are sure there was a molt
When I was in contact with Dr Caldwell he assured me they can go a week without feeding with no ill effects. i would kill the lights for a day or two and hang in there

definitly a molt.i got the salinity to 1.026 now.tested the water all is zero.for some reason the ph was 7.8 so i added a little buffer .she is out now but just seems a bit slow.i heard her smacking a snail earlier.i need to buy some krill tomorrow.the bag i has was freeze dried.she seems to be getting better everyday though.maybe it has something to do with the molt?

I've been

some and I wonder if the iodine level was wrong before/during the molt? ? ?
I know (from cleaner shrimp experience) that slightly high iodine levels cause shrimps to molt too quick and shorten their lifespan, and too low iodine levels will cause inclomplete molt or improper hardening of the new shell.
Just a thought, hope she hangs in there.....My new blue star is doing bad - I think I exposed it to some air during xfer.......awwww
