High Alk

All of the parameters that I can test look great.
Ph - 8.2
Amm - 0
trite - 0
trate - 0
SG 1.022
Alk - High
I have Red Sea's Marine Lab. The Alk test only gives you low - normal, and High results. I don't have a Ca test. I have done these tests twice today with the same results.
Thanks,
KDS

Ok, thanks for the help guys. I'll look into some new tests. I have been skimping since I don't have corals yet. Very helpful article attml.

My Redsea test kit has the mil. eq. numerical value on the side of the box, but the insert lists only low, med, and high. Look there and you might be able to get a numerical value from it, it took me a while to figure this out.

There can be a problem with high alk. As it climbs it will tend to precipitate onto Calcium and this can drop your PH temporarily.
To fix high ALK when you have no corals I suggest just doing water changes.
