Water changes will usually reduce calcium levels. Are you sure your test kit is good? I run high alk and cal (at max or slightly above) levels and have not ever had problems not even when cal was at the point of precipitating out of suspension. It was extremely high for a few days but eventually dropped down as it was used by corals etc......Your ph is fine so it should not be causing the cal levels to fluctuate as it would if it was very low, which would cause live rock etc to dissolve and make cal level higher. Your test date was dec 27..what is it now? If your not doseing with anything it ought to be considerably lower by now.

Tonight it's 660 up from 575 on 12/27/06. On the 27th I did a 14g water change with Distilled water.

Have had problems with turbo snails dying (5 or so) so I bought the test kit's on the 27th for Phospate, Calcium and Alkalinity.
Whereas the calcium was a little high at 575, I assumed the snails may need a higher sp, so I've gradually increased sp from 1.021.
Need a cleaner crew, which I was to order from SWF tonight, but may wait till I better understand the calcium / Alk levels, and their impact on inverts.

You haven't told us what you dose your tank with?
Are you using tap water?
Mix some new saltwater and test ALK & Calcium levels.

Dose tank weekly with Cycle (5ml per gallon)
Use Distilled Water from retailer, and 1/2cup Instant Ocean per gallon
Will test newly prepared 4g mix tonight.
Thank you sir.
