Some sort of filter-feeder party goin on. The girlfriend just picked up a Sun Coral today and found these guys mingling amongst them. They are very active. They have a fan-like feeder appendage that pops up, fans out, then swipes down at the water.
What do these hipsters call themselves?

I think they are barnacles or something of that nature. You can by roock in most LFS stores around here that look just like those things.

They are barnicles.

For some reason I was confusing barnicles with mussels. "Arent those the black clam lookin things?" I kept telling myself. But somehow I knew that wasnt right. I just couldnt think "no, those are mussels. THESE are barnicles" Heh.
So yeah, the gf is pretty excited about them as much as she is with the coral. Pretty funny.

Barnacles don't usually live long. Wish I knew why.

Dont worry, if you have any hermit crabs in your tank they will feast on them.
