My CPR overflow has a little plastic stick to help with noise. Mine also was making a slurping noise like it suddenly started draining. It turns out the box was filling too high before it drained down. I cleaned the little filter and it helped.
My lifter pump stopped working once... I took the lifter pump to the kitchen sink and ran the lifter pumps tubes through real hot fresh water while the pump ran. I used a paper clip to clear the small holes on the pump and on the nub where the pump attaches to the overflow and then replaced the air tubes and it worked like new.
