I hope I didn't just order rainclouds by posting before I actually pick up the keys, but we close tomorrow on a house.
We've been in apartments and townhomes for 5 years now (and all over the country) and all I can say is hallelujah!!

Good to hear. I hated the years of moving every year or so. Happy to be a homeowner for the last 6 years.

Stupid Bank of America loaned us a half a mil.

I still can't believe it, but talk about jumping through hoops...whew.
I just measured the paperwork...9 3/8 inches of documents.

That must be a standard with BOA. We were still signing papers and getting them documents up to 5 days before closing. I finally told them I was done jumping through hoops and that they were either going to make it go through without me having to leave work twice a day or that I would go elsewhere. I didn't hear from them again until they needed me to siggn the closing docs.

Congratulations. If you don't mind me asking, what do you get for half a million in Oceanside, CA? What kind of square footage, amenities, etc?

What part of Oceanside?
.
My claim to fame is that I was renting a tiny little rundown shack/bungalow on the "strand" in Oceanside when one day the landord showed up and said you have 3 days to Get Out, I was so bummed because I was right on the ocean, anyway, The reason I was kickeout was because they were going to use my little hut as the home of Tom Cruise for the movie Top Gun, kinda cool to watch the movie and see my old digs. Thats when I bought the 1 bedroom condo on the far end of the strand for something like $84k. Man, I should have never sold that unit

Oceanside used to be one of the last affordable oceanfront places to live, even if you weren't on the ocean it was still a cool beach.
.
Sorry didn't mean to hijack, just brings back a lot of memories.
.
Congrats, so what kinda tank are you going to install?

Just two days before closing we told the loan officer we were tired of going back and forth between yes we are good to go and no we have a problem, just forget the whole thing and we'll keep renting. 5 mins later we get a call saying we are definitely approved and please sign papers asap.
I think they're scared to loan money due to all the bad loans/foreclosures.

Wow... it's amazing how inflated the real estate market is in California. Congrats on the house.
