hoping this isnt aiptasia but i think it is-- can someone confirm?

Just got the tank up about an hour ago all thats in there is liverock/sand and water. The water is still sort of cloudy, but this is what I can see so far. if this is aiptasia I want to nip it in the bud, i've heard about aiptasia X, but would rather do this without chemicals if possible, any ideas?

It is definately Aiptasia. Boil some saltwater in the microwave and use a turkey baster to squirt it onto the Aiptasia. Keep squirting until it has completely denatured (turns white like an egg white) and falls off the rock. You can use fresh water but saltwater gets hotter before it boils so it will work faster.

lmbo. It's unfortunate but it's a small issue. Specially when you catch it fast like you did.

Surprised that my local chain store had aptasia x... dropped some of that junk ont here, they gobbled it up then... poof. im sure im not done yet, but that sure was encouraging. going to turn the circulation back on now and see if those jerks come back out of the rocks.

Yea, they work wonders. I don't like to put chemicals in my tank so I just added some peppermint shrimp which took care of it naturally.

I would add some peppermints, but i just set the tank up today. i want to Nuke these things while nothing else is in there and before they start to spread. once the tank is cycled the peppermint shrimp should take care of it. I just keep finding more of these things! I wish they weren't so ugly/intrusive.

I remember when I first got into this hobby that I thought it was a coral of some kind and staring at it mesmerized... heh how stupid was I lol.

yeah ive been on a warpath with these things, 15 down so far, i feel like very time i look at the tank i see another big one and like 5 more small ones. Any ideas for non direct treatment? Aptiasia x works like a charm but there's no way I'm going to get all of them with all of the nooks and crannies in the LR.

Just take care of the big ones as you see them. Once your tank is ready and a bit more matured a couple Peppermint Shrimp can help with the smaller ones.
