I tinted the windows that see a lot of sunlight. I measured the temperature of the blinds with a laser thermometer. The before tint temp was 26 degrees higher than the after temp. It made a huge difference on the temp inside the house.
Lowes and Home Depot sell household window tint.
I just had new windows put in my house...they actuallycome with a slight tint.....I sure hope it works, BUT 100 degrees is hot regardless
Mrdc....Good luck with the black car....LOL...I have a black mustang...with tinted windows....as stated above....when it is 100 out...nothing matters.....I bet it was 180 in my car yesterday....Thank goodness I had a remote start put in this car.....that helps

Well it's my wife's car so she can deal with the heat!

At least the ******** is more grey instead of black so maybe that will help some. But like you said, there really isn't any relief once the temps hit 100.

I work outside.. Here in FL we're hitting record highs just about every day....right after those record lows during winter ( I miss Winter).
I hit up McDonalds large unsweet teas for $1.00 at least 2-3 times a day and I have my air conditioner set at 70 for the apartment.

AC whenever possible! When working outside, lots and lots of ice cold water! We keep 2 coolers on our work truck!

Thanks for posting this...I always wondered how big of a difference it would make. I have not done it yet because I'm not crazy about how it looks because my house is a lighter colored stone and brick. But here in stupid TX I need all the help I can get. I'm gonna go buy some today. Is it pretty easy to do without getting bubbles?

I bought window tint on e.bay for super cheap. My apartment in Texas was ALL windows and I'm a night worker. It was amazing how cool it kept the rooms.

WOW.
Its 111 in phoenix today.
Pretty much stay inside all day. Or go out in a thermal radiation suit and sunglasses.
The water from the cold faucet is boiling hot and the how water is ...well...hot.
And I wish like hell there was a decent lake around here that wasn't the color of dirt.

I was a little scared of the way it might look, but I actually think it made the house look better. I still have 2 windows upstairs to do. The tint is offered in a few different colors.
It was easier to install than in a car because the glass is flat and there is a LOT more area to work. I set up a work station consisting of a folding table with room for a tape measure, straight edge and all the tint application supplies. If you haven't worked with tint before, have some else do it...or be prepared to get angry.

Open the garage door and windows. Nice breeze and pleasant weather with no humidity. It was about 70 degrees inside all day yesterday. Gets down in the 60s at night so we close all but one window. We have not used A/C yet this year. Sorry for all you folks toasting in the heat.
yes, babe, come back home.....now.......you will remember in a few minutes what you left. Plus a few basement runs!!!

You can buy this stuff that sticks by static.... and it actually works.
I had a hard time with that a few years ago, but I was working by myself and it was a little much for one person to handle. Working the air out was harder, because the squeegee stuck to the tint and snagged it. YMMV.
