How big do pods get?

I picked up an african green sea mat today. On it are these white sponge like things stuck some of the heads and in the rock are bugs EASILY as big as those rolly polly bugs you find under the rock. They are kinda brownish. Should I be concerned?

Probably amphipods....nothing to be concerned with

They are pretty dang funny, and FAST. I put the rock into a drip bucket and they were swimming all over the tank.
Oh and while I have your attention. Is there any need to acclimate macro algae before putting it into a tank?
Its Red grape algae. I'm hoping it won't be to invasive, its beautiful.
