how do fish know theres glass???

they can see..if you look in your tank from an angle, you see a reflective picture...they get curious, go to the glass and then see you.

when I got my second clown fish who was wild caught he reacted just like Nemo in the movie. He keep turning in circles, bonked into the tank wall a couple of times, and then saw my other clown chloe. It was love at first sight. I have never seen another creature so relieved to see another of it's own kind. A shiver ran through both of them and then they raced at full speed and about ran one another down. Chloe was so excited she zipped around the tank 4 times and was so giddy she plowed right into the tan wall the fourth time around.They've been inseperable ever since.

they go one pressure. the can feel things around them. i don't belive their vison is too good but yes the algea is a good indictaion there is somthing there.

i dont kno...if i went to tap on the glass...before i even got CLOSE, im tlaking 4-5inches away...with the fish at the glass looking at me, hed swim away from the glass. so i think they can see...but im not a fish expert so i dont really know

:happyfish personal experience as a fish.
we dive curved tanks on a regular basis and can't see out at all. it's reflective underwater so you can see yourself coming up to the side. i really don't notice it too much until someone outside is trying to get my attention, then a ghostlike image of their face appears.
and yes angels never seem to have a problem with the glass. rays love it and sharks bump all the time.

My fish have great eyesight. They see there food prenty dang well, anyway... :joy:

Absolutely. Well, I say that based on how they react when I drain off some of the water, especially if I've been soaking their food in garlic.

Ya, mine too. My Nass. snails do the same thing. It's awesome to watch. Usually you only see a few snails in my tank, once the food goes in though suddenly a couple of hundred snails rise up from the sand and start scurrying around.
I would guess most inverts feed more by smell and touch.
