How do I move a Yellow Leather Coral?

 Could someone please tell me where a thread is for moving a leather coral. I just bought a real nice yellow leather coral only to find out that it is on a base made of shells. Needless to say the shells are breaking apart due to the weight of the leather. It can't stand up because of this. How do I put it on another rock. Never have done this before & pretty nervous to do this, but it is a must. Thanks.

You can take a razor blade, cut it clean from what it is on.Do this out of your tank, have a bowl of tank water to rinse it in when you are done.Put it on the rock, then with a large needle puncture the base of the leather, using fishing line..tie in a knot on the bottom of the rock.Set in low to moderate flow area..give it several weeks to attach to the rock, then carefully cut the fishing line and remove. This is how we do leather frags at work..we have never lost one.

promisetbg has stated the way I would do it. Especially because I enjoy trading and if you follow her methods you're going to end up with at least two and probably more frags of that Leather.
Another option is to use pliers & break off most of the shell the leather is on. Then use superglue Gel to attach the remaining pieces of shell to a rock.
As mentioed before it's very important to do all of this outside the tank because the Sarcophyton is going to slime and the slime is quite toxic.
