I'm not sure myself, but do you work in a location that has a receiving dock?
I bought our guy in receiving lunch one day and he always looks out for my boxes. He even knows how to open them and check to make sure all the bags are in good shape before the FedEx guy leaves.
Just an idea...

i have a porch with a large overhang and no sun reaches where they drop it off. so i would be fine with them leaving it there for an hour or two. are you 100% positive about the signiture though?

I have had a dozen or so deliveries from SWF and have never had to sign for them - you can even leave special instructions on the delivery form as to where you want them left. Only problem is if you are not there any DOA's must be reported within 2hrs of delivery - I've only had a couple of those in all of my shipments and SWF has been very accomodating.

If it is reported within the 2 hour period you can get a refund (after returning it to them) if not then you get a store credit. I've had a few that didn't make it and they were very good about their guarantee, as advertised.

yeah but what do they do if you buy one of their 10packs of snails and 4 of them die?

they would probably give you a partial credit - but i've ordered a lot of snails from them and never had one die (excepting those that I put in the tank that has a Valentini Puffer in it - didn't know he would snack on them)

All part of the learning curve I suppose. What part of LA are you in? Those fires look pretty nasty this time around (again!!) I was very saddened to see the Malibu castle go up in flames.

i live in ventura county its the next county over towards the north from my hill i can see a fire. i think we might get evacuated. the whole lemon orchard is on fire. its pretty crazy i have no power but im running my room on a generator(my computer and fishtank). you have to where face masks because the smoke is so bad, it looks like we all have some super contages desease, like if you have ever seen the pictures of sars in china.

are you west of the 405 ? as I understand it the fire is all on that side. Wish you well either way. I lived in San Fernando Valley for many years so I saw my share of these darned fires.
Oops - not 405 I meant the 134

They ship to you in a cardboard box. NO signature required, but they strongly recommend you be there when the package is delivered. When you open the box it is styrofoam insulation and the fish in the bags of water. Each bag is labeled what it contains (although the writing may be messy or some unknown abbreviation). They also put in a heatant/coolant depending on conditions but i have never gotten one of those because i order spring and fall only.

I've had this happen. They do make you return the dead snails/crabs in order to get a credit. I asked them if they'd just give the credit on my word given my order history, and they chose not to reply. It's unfortunate, because it was going to cost me more to send in the dead stuff than the credit, so I just ate the loss (no pun intended).
It's about the only time I've been really dissatisfied with their service.

Its like that everywhere. Even for us retailers who buy from the wholesalers, we only get partial credit and not to mention that they only replace it on the NEXT order.

Here is the part that hacks me off about their return policy: If your fish dies, you have to pack it in salt and mail it back; that I understand.
Then they issue you a credit, usually within a week or two. BUT, when you go to use that credit you find that you are required to order another minimum of $75.00 worth of livestock BEYOND whatever your credit is. And then they charge you a $9.00 surcharge and then a $9.00 fuel charge. So let’s say you return a fish valued at $10.00. “Actually when you include their famous surcharge and fuel charge your fish cost you a lot more, but all you’ll get is the retail price.” But I digress. So you now have a $10.00 credit. To use it, you must now order at least $85.00 worth of live stock. Then they add the $18.00 worth of extra fees and…it cost you $93.00 to replace your $10.00 fish that died within 15 days of receiving it.
