How far do you drive to get to your LFS

Mine is right down the street and for the past 3 weeks I have been making almost daily trips. But I think when I start getting corals I will be buying a lot of stuff in Houston.

My favorite LFS & the one I do most of my business with is 110 miles one way. There is one locally but it is relatively new and not as well established...but it is rapidly improving.

I would too...went to Aquarium World a few days ago and was astounded ...very nice place...if there are better LFS's in Houston I certainly wish I had checked them out!!

Thats the one on 290 right? I live on the south side of town but I think I might have to make the drive one weekend.

got one that's my new favorite (cause the owner spent hours yesterday helping me figure out how to set up a refugium and even came to my house to help) that's right up the road from me. That and his place is dog friendly--he brings his dog in every day and yesterday our dogs bonded there. All in all a plus...though if i'm really looking for something unique there's a place 50 miles away...I tend to make a monthly pilgrammage there anyhow, it's like going to a major aquarium--specially with corals.

Mine is roughly 20 or so miles from me. It is strictly salt water and I enjoy cruising the aisle's checking out all the cool fish, inverts, corals and supplies. He's got just about anything you might need for your tank. A bit overpriced, but I can only imagine what the overhead must be there. I gladly shell out the extra $$ and just feel grateful I have a place so close to shop.
I might also add, in total honesty, that I shop ALOT online! The selection is amazing online and in these freezing yucky days of winter, it means I can get what I need relatively quickly and easily without having to go out in a blizzard to get it!

A great store opened in August that is less than 10 minutes away by car, which is probably the main cause of the drop in my checking account this year :D
NM reef, where do you live in New Mexico?

Hmmm a good place I go to is a 1/4 mile away so if I drive my Dodge there I can be there in 13 seconds:eek:

best reply yet. And if you are serious, what dodge runs a 13 sec 1/4 besides the obvious viper with a bad driver who thinks he is good. Must be an old one.

I go to the same one as NM reef and I too am about 110 miles away. Go there about once a week. BTW NM reef I just picked up two brains from there last week. :)

Yup...the Houston place is off of 290 13157 is the address. An outstanding display...a bit sparce on corals but I may have been there between shipments. Good selection of tanks and equipment. Large assortment of saltwater fish. All seemingly well maintained.
I live in Clovis...the wife has family living in the "Q".
Was just in Lubbuck yesterday...when I replace my 55 Kyle will order the new display...we've been discussing the new display for a while now. His 75 that once had his "not for sale" corals in it...he tried to convince me to buy that one or the other he's had in there that he took back in trade. I think I'll hold off until I'm ready for either a new Oceanic 140 reef ready or the Oceanic 175 bow front reef ready. Just a matter of time and money.

I thought that the display that Kyle has is a 110 gallon?

I was in there today some of the corals are starting to look alittle stressed from something!! loads of nice corals though. cant wait to get my 100 setup as a reef so I can get some larger corals. LOL
Mike
PS I guess I am lucky I dont live all that far from them..
