How is that Teleprompter working out for you?

Only you right wingnuts would degrade the accomplishments of someone who helped the farm workers become something more than useless trash. Might remember that when you have to pay $20 for 3 ears of corn because you chased them "illegal Messkins" back to where they belong.

Actually, having been both a farmer and field worker for other farmers, they didn't improve anything but union dues and line the pockets of field labor contractors. Since you don't have a clue, let me explain. The farmers agree with the union that it will take 200 hours to weed this field or pick these grapes. The union says 10 people/20 hours/$20,000. The union takes 10%. Then a labor contractor takes the $18,000 and hires a crew and is supposed to pay a "living wage" and all the taxes and insurance. What has happened since this garbage was foisted on farmers and workers is the contractor hires illegals at $5/hr, doesn't pay taxes or workers comp and the illegals do the work and don't complain because it is 10x more than they make in Mexico and if they are injured, sue the farmer. It hasn't benefited the workers or the farmers and it was never intended to. It was a money grab by the unions and their labor contracting buddies. Yeah, praising a shakedown artist is not a good thing.

I suppose Adolph Hitler was kind to his mother and did other useful things at one time or another. Doesn't change the fact he supported a barbaric form of government.

The unions haven't been concerned with workers since Hoffa Sr. got sent to jail.

And we killed a guy last year that helped liberate afghanistan from the soviet union occupation and slaughter. That must have made him a good person.

You have one warped sense of logic. I guess in your mind, we should put Ghadafi up for sainthood?

The contractor hires illegals because the fat, lazy, Americans won't degrade themselves into taking labor-intensive jobs. Considering Cesar Chavez has been immortalized as the "savior of the working man", he must have duped millions of people in this "money grab" that you claim.

I was a farm worker for 3 summers.
INS raided every year and removed only those breaking the law. Put the money toward an education and now I make more an hour thanI used to in a day.
I do not want law breakers in the country. I want immigrants like my famliy whole came from Italy thorough Ellis Island... all leagally. Even got their name changed but the pencil pusher at Ellis.
Then again I guess I'm a "right wing nut" for believing in the law

Did you forget what stance you were arguing? Your statement would apply to yourself, not me.

She's an open borders fanatic and thinks the US should follow Hugo Chavez's lead. I don't care what else she's down,

I'm supposed to be impressed? I spent every summer from 11 years old until I was 17 on my uncle's farm plowing fields, milking cows, gathering eggs from the hen house, and getting paid 25 cents/bale for baling 50 lb. bales of hay from 5AM to 8PM every day.
You don't want illegals doing the labor-intensive jobs? Whose going to do them? Alabama passed their restrictive illegal immigration law, and the farmers and produce companies in that state can't find anyone to do the jobs. Some "Americans" applied, and lasted on 2 days or less. They didn't want to do the back-breaking work for the wages that are offered.

How about we follow the laws and hire under the migrant worker program. That's what it's there for. If the mind numb politicians would pull their heads out and cancel ethanol subsidies and requirements food prices would fall to the point we wouldn't notice any increased prices for labor.

The migrant worker program doesn't work because too many anti-illegals just see that as a way for them to "sneak into the US and stay here", as opposed to working during the crop seasons then going back home. Ethanol subsidies and other government regulations have nothing to do with rising food prices. When a farmer has to pay someone twice what he used to pay to bring in his crops, or has to invest in expensive automated farm equipment, he has to pass that expense onto someone. That someone is the consumer. It costs more to produce sorgham, hay, and other products used to feed livestock, so it costs the cattle, pig, and chicken farmers more for their feed. So they in turn raise meat, milk, and egg prices. Wheats and grains cost more to cultivate, so breads and cereal prices go up. Labor costs is the major factor regarding profit for farmers and ranchers.

Can the Migrant Worker Program be updated to work? What we have now is costing us far too much. There should be a way to streamline the process to get a migrant worker here that's isn't expensive & time consuming for the worker and yet fully documents who they are and who is hiring them.

What is the umber one ingredient in feed for everything from chickens to pigs? Corn much of which is used to make Ethanol.
If we solve the illegal problem it also fixes the migrant worker program. It doesn't take a fence. We just need to require proof of residency to collect government services. If you can't work or get welfare why come?

It is just crazy to support illegal immigration on the bases that "no one else will work those jobs". Seriously? How many of America's problems could be immediately resolved by not having illegals in this country....
