One fish is just about it in a 10 gallon and most clowns need a minimum of 20 gallons or better. Also, unless you are experienced with marine tanks, then a 55 gallon is suggested minimum size for beginners. Do more research before you get started.

Lots of people put a pair of clownfish in a 10g. It's a bit smaller than a lot of people would like to see, but it's been done. :)

No more than 2 clownfish in one tank. 3+ sometimes works, but usually two will pair off and kill the rest.

I have two clowns and a Bagaii Cardinal in a 20 gallon. I'd have to say I'm pushing it. I have a lot of live rock (I can't say exactly how much because I added it over time), a 3" DSB and some filtration.
So far (16 months for the clowns and 3 months for the Cardinal) it's a very stable tank. I won't add anything else to it no matter how much pressure my wife puts on me to put a "Dorey" in there. :)

There's barely 400 in there, don't exaggerate!

IMO a 10 is OK for a pair of Percula. I do not believe it's big enough for any other species of Clownfish.
A 20 is OK for a pair of almost any other Clownfish but it's pushing it for Sebae, Tomatos, and Maroons.
