Add a few cups and see how much the level jumps...then do some elementary math. If 1 cup makes your tank 1.012 then adding another cup will equal 1.024...
Anyway, fiddling is the best way. If it is too high, add water. If it is too low, add salt. Simple as that

What? A newbie would read that as you want him to add a few cups of salt directly to the tank.

Okay. I don't know why someone would read it like that
I was talking about adding it to the 20 gallons of water he said was salt free.
My answer wasn't targeted for a newbie, but for Brokendeck. I think it's safe to assume that he would not add salt directly to a tank that needs a large water change.

PEZ is correct...we were responding to someone who was mixing water in a seperate container...A person should read the whole thread and never ASSume anything...

Hazing at it's finest.................^^^ What is that?

I know it was the rare occasion where I was right and I still got heckled.

EDIT: question for Brokendeck: I saw some pics of you in a thread, but you always say "we." So when I call you a guy, I second guess myself because I start to think that maybe your wife/girlfriend is on. So what's the situation with that? Just curious

I was told to do 20% water changes weekly to lower the nitrate level in order to get ready for fish!
