I think the most important thing would be...good, stable water conditions in the tank...
Holding temperature steady...
Holding Salinity steady....
0 ppt Ammonia...
0 ppt NitrIte...
Low nitrate level...
And then... Healthy Feeding Habbits....
Varity of foods suited to the fish you keep...
Not overfeeding...
You also want to give your fish a "comfortable" home...
Not too crowded...
And fish that Get Along with each other... Aggression = Stress = Sickness = Death...
