how do i get out a aiptasia in the middle of a zoa xolony?
its a tiny one and its keeping 1 polyps closed. i can see it extended and its a little brown looking thing. in order to get to it, i would have to spread apart the polyp and possibly damage them. these zoas are easily my favorite and dont want to kill them off trying to fix it..
p.s... they are froot loop zoas

I've smeared globs of Aiptasia-X into a zoa colony to kill one or two. It will not hurt the zoas, but the aiptasia will if you let it stay there.

Aiptasia-X is a concentrated liquid that you inject into the mouth of the aiptaisa with a syringe that it comes with. It will kill the aiptasia and/or majano anemones and not any others, nor will it disturb corals. Do not try to pluck out aiptasia it will expel its larvae all over the tank and you'll end up with even more.
The problem with any sort of dipping, especially if it's in the middle of a zoa colony, is that you risk killing any of your corals in the process.
Aiptasia-X is honestly the only thing that I've ever had work for me.

Get a syringe(if you can) with no needle. Boil water. Suck the water into syringe and (as quick as possible so it does't cool too much) place the tip of syringe into it's mouth and(it will grab on) push the plunger down and give it the whole syringe full.

I would suggest this, except it's in the middle of a colony of zoas. He could hurt the zoas doing this.
However, if you find aiptasia in the middle of nowhere on rocks and such, boiling water is pretty effective.

Well, then get a syringe WITH a needle and boil it the same way. The hot water will be more concentrated twords the aptasia since the needle hole is smaller.
OR
Invest in peppermint Shrimp. I have one, havn't seen an appy since I got him. He does not do after ant zoas either.

the only aptaisia I have ever had was also in a colony of zoas... i did the aptasia X thing,,, works great.. the stuff may cost 20 bucks or so, but its worth it not only to have it on hand just incase,,, but for this first time with the syringe,,, its very handy!!

I had the same thing about a month ago and applied aptasia X with a syringe directly into the shaft og the aptasia and it killed it and did not harm zoas at all

Just smother the spot. It won't hurt the zoas, but it will kill the aiptasia.

It won't harm them. It won't even kill any other anemones. Boiling water would do more damage.
I'd try to get at it slowly and spray it on.
I had aiptasia in the middle of zoos that I eventually had to just smother, no harm to the zoos.

Well....
I use aiptasia X for killing pests, corals and whatever... If you kill your flow and let it sit it will eat almost anything... I kill mushrooms, GSP, zoas, palys, euphyllia etc etc with aiptasia X.... great stuff. However, another company makes a product called "aiptasia control" that works a lot better IMO... sticks better, seems to be much stonger... and was cheaper :)
/2cents.

i did spray a little at the aiptasia before it closed up and now today i dont see it anymore. i have pics of the colony to prove it. ill add them later!

I think fire works best. IMHO.
Best for what? Dumbest idea ever. Why would you introduce concentrate heat and gas to your coral/liverock? I think someone is just trying to be "cool" haha.

It's hard to tell the tone of someones voice by reading the words their fingers typed.
The reason why I was asking this is some people ACTUALLY do it. There seems to be a lot of young minds and amateur reefers here that may actually take your sarcastic advice and ruin their reef.
...and people wonder why I stomp misinformation and "argue"
