Hey all,
I've heard there is a way to install metal halides in the light fixture of my 12g nano cube and I was just wondering if anyone knew how, and what materials/bulbs work best?
Thanks for the help,
Sarah

par38 from rapid led would be the cheapest route and it wont cause you heat problems like an mh would. you would get rid of the stock hood of course and have a lamp hanging over it to hold the par38 led

Hi I actually have a 12g nano and had done some digging on the internet and after talking with some people on here that had already put a 150w metal halide on their nano's I decided to go ahead and do the same. First you need to decide what kind of corals you are wanting to have, if you want to do soft corals like mushrooms, zoo's, or leathers... then imo the pc that comes on the nano's will work fine, but if your wanting to get into sps then you maybe should consider the metal halide. also keep in mind this light does not go in the hood of the nano.. you actually take the hood off, you wont use it, which brings in this factor,... you will have more evaporation as the top will be open... just stuff you need to consider to see what is right for you and what you are wanting to do with you nano. This is the one the I did some research on and for the most part and for what it is it is worth the money, only draw back is the clamp that clamps it on the back top of the tank is a little cheep, but with 2 ""C" clamps on the back it works great... they have a 75w or the 150w option in this light, and for a few extra bucks I just went ahead and got the bigger 150w to go on my nano, as I want to basically make mine a small reef tank. I only have a clown in there now and that's basically all I'm going to keep in it as far as fish goes. Hope this helps you out some! not sure I can post that actual , but if not Ill just tell you the name and u can search for it on the internet also http://www.***********.com/JBJ_K_2_Viper_HQI_Clamp_on_Lamp_Lighting_Fixture_Clamp_On_Metal_Halide_Light_Fixtures-JBJ_Lighting-JB9111-FILTFIMHCO-4-vi.html

In the hood conversions on that small of a tank are really a pain to keep temperature under control. Just sayin.

best thing to do it ditch the stock took and get a 70w Clip on light or Search for a 70w Sunpod
I got the 70w sunpod on my 12gallon aquapod and NO heat issues
