agree. but turn those pumps off and see what happens???????all im saiin is not the best blace to build (under sea level).and that makes me a troll?
you need 2 look at the map.the east coast is not under sea level .they dont need pumps to keep the ocean(or gulf)in your case out!!!
They may get a chance to test that soon. A lot of the problems with keeping water out of this region are man made. They can be fixed.

No. The misconception is that the whole region is below sea level, not true.

Below or above doesn't seem to matter. Here you go-
Presidential disaster declarations related to flooding in the United States, shown by county: Green areas represent one declaration; yellow areas represent two declarations; orange areas represent three declarations; red areas represent four or more declarations between June 1, 1965, and June 1, 2003. Map not to scale. Sources: FEMA, Michael Baker Jr., Inc., the National Atlas, and the USGS

Your states looks more flood prone than many coastal states! South Carolina gets hit hard by hurricanes yet look how much more red Wisconsin is!

Again, above or below does not matter. This is the 21st century, we have the technology.

On the plus side, it looks like the remnants of Gustave will miss Wisconsin.

Trust me when I say it does no good to argue. He will make an argument out of the most idiotic of things. And apparently he will continue to type like a 3 year old. I only hope for his sake he doesn't talk that way. It's frickin irritating.

I didn't mean for it to be a personal attack on him. It is just frustrating when the posts get sidelined over arguments that don't help or add anything to the discussion. I apologize.

Okay I am trying to be politically correct as possible and not be rude. Slack this is the OP. There is nothing talking about cemeteries being on hills. They are talking about demgraphics and what areas in the country tend to flood. You are arguing with people who are actually living in that area. I would think they would know what they are talking about. That being said I am going to let this go before I get into trouble myself. I hope everyone that is dealing with Gustav is okay. I am praying for everyone to make it out safely.
