I am going for my disability..Breaking down the reef tank

Jeez, I'm so sorry to hear about the tank. I was recently in the same boat about it -- when I had to break down the 110g. It will be depressing, but I think you have the RIGHT attitude about it. You know you're not going to get any good money for the equipment, so it's better for now just to store it....and life's path has a funny way of turning back upward from every downward journey, so I lay good odds on your being able to start it up again.
And you're absolutely right about the money factor, especially with 100+ gallon tanks. I was spending on average about $50.00 per month just for water, and then you have to factor in little things like filter material, replacement tests, food, and of course power consumption. I would hazard a guess that everything combined ran around $200 per month to keep my baby running. These tanks of ours are definitely a luxury hobby, and unfortunately have to be considered as such when we finally decide to tighten the belt.
Just think. If you can squirrel and stash a little cash away, even through these rough times, you'll be able to rebuild the tank that much better when you go to reset it!!!

Well a friend donated a bucket of salt to me, he had switched brands and gave me the new bucket of IO he had. I got an extra 4 days pay still coming. So I got a cheap $60.00 skimmer for the SH tank. I transferred most of my corals to the 30g.

So on the 90g the one side of lights will work for now, and I will have the salt I need to do water changes for a while anyway. So for the time being I can keep both tanks going. I won't be adding anything new but at least I can enjoy the tanks as they are. Worse case I have to get rid of my fish in the 90g later on if I have to....For now I will just take life’s little surprises a little bit at a time.
So I am prepared to tighten my belt if it comes to down to it, but for now all is well.
