You don't want to put it on the actual coral....put it on the rock or plug the coral comes on....I use Holdfast epoxy stick.......it seems to work for me
Lugols will "hopefully" kill any bug that may be on the coral....I know you can dip zoas, and leathers, I just don't know about everything else

+1
If you are not sure about the dip do not use it. I am still upset about the brain I killed and it was over 2 years ago. If you make some really xtra salty seawater and only dip the rock up to the edge of the coral...anything on it will fall right off in a few seconds and it won't hurt the coral to be out of water that short time.
Just a note, just in case you get one, they have great color! a sponge is not a coral, it must never be exposed to air even for a second. Hold the bag underwater and take the sponge out, no need to acclimate. They need to live in the shade, so place under an overhang or in a cave.

Can't I position the rock or plug that it comes on within my live rock and use my live rock to support it? won't super glue or anything like that leak chemicals into the tank?

You can if the plug or rock WILL hold it....I'm never that lucky
AND NO....if you buy the right NON toxic super glues....or the marine epoxy (holdfast) that is what it's made for

I just added my base rock into my tank. How long should I wait to start to add coral?
I'd test the water to the tank just to be sure there was nothing in the rock.....as long as levels stay good, then go for it
