Well that is pretty much what I needed to know. What size do you think I should go with. I think I do need a refugium. I eventually want to get a Mandarin. But I also read that a fuge helps with trates and phosphates. So I need that help...LOL
And yes this is the post I was referring to

Use the 55 for a sump/fuge if it will fit under the stand. Be aware that you will need to get some custom work done, a good LFS should be able to help out. My lfs built my sump for me.

What do you think about my light set up mentioned above?

Now we're back on sumps? :notsure: OK here an idea for light, with the MH plus 4 PCs'
The sump/fuge I have a pretty good idea and yes the 55 will be the fuge but have to figuire out something that will fit for the sump/skimmer.......
What do think? This will give you 4 x 65w and 2 x 175 = 565 total watts 5.6 per gallon.......

Is this using the ballast I told you about above? Looks good to me. What all do I need to buy to make the 4x65 to add to that ballast?
Also yes we are on sumps and pumps and skimmers and anything I may need to get this 100 gallon up and running. This is my official thread for my 100 gallon - starting out...LOL
Oh he gave me some BIG skimmer. Do you need me to measure it?

Hey I just thought of this.
I have 4 X65 watt bulbs for my PC fixture. Each bulb has 2 on it if that makes since. I have 2 50/50 and 1 12000K and 1 03 act blue.
Will these work for what you drew above? If so what components should I look for to add these to the ballast?

Question - I don't need another reflector do I if I use this ballast? I have no idea. I am looking for a list of items I need online. I will let you know what I find.
the picture below is 4x65 watt set up.
I found this as well but it would be 2x55w and I would buy 2 of course. Would that work?

Polycarbonate power compact clips Wirenuts 6ft grounded power cords Heat Shrink tubing Manufacturers wiring diagram Must have knowledge in wiring diagrams Great way to add lighting if you are a Do-It-Yourselfer! OK the PCs will work you just have to take the light apart and spread the fixtures out under the new canopy. PC lights have the ballast inside the light itself so those will also have to be moved. The little black box in the pic you posted is the ballast. Now the MH's have an external ballast and the will have to find a home somewhere in the set-up.......
So IF you want to do some work I think what you have + the MH would work......
Anybody else???? :notsure:
Going back to drawin'

TIM -
Actually I don't have that set up. I do have 1 odyssea up, but that is only 2x65 watt. So if I took it apart I would still have to find pieces for 2 more bulbs. What I meant was that I have 4 65 watt bulbs on hand
Now the description I posted above is from the BIG auction site and it is for 2x55 watt. Picture is attached and this is what is all included:

If this wattage is ok then I could get 2 of these set ups.

Wax - is this a good return pump? GenX 1100 gph
Found one local that is 1 1/2 years old for $60. Thoughts?

Used pumps = not a good idea.
You never know what they have been through. I gotta say, I have never encountered that pump, might be a good one, but I'd go new. I realise you want to save money, but.... NEW!

That is why I asked. I did find a 55 gallon for $20 bucks though
so once I get the dimensions I may get that for my sump/refug set up. Then I just need to figure out how to do that. :scared:
Hey can I use acrylic or plexi glass for the baffels in the 55 and use silicon to keep them in? Will that work or do I need to use glass only?

Hey Tim! Sent you an email. Everything is still going. I picked up the 45 today for the sump/refugium. So I am slowly getting there.
