::blushes:: thanx Sep

I'm having ridiculous amounts of fun right now. it's a little .... abnormal......

::sigh:: this is why I left the real world in the 1st place. 2 do this. 2 be this ridiculously happy and try to illicit the same reaction in my clients. THAT is JUST HEAVEN.

Nice! Well it sounds like you are still having that fun.
Short story. My father is a photographer. My mother does all of the poses, paperwork, etc. It is something that they LOVE to do. They both worked other jobs because the bills needed to be paid (five kids in the house) but they did weddings when they could book them. They have had their own photography business for quite some time. They started slow then built it up. My father is now retired from his outside job. They love it. Keep faith alive Mimzy. You are truly a talented individual and love what you can do.

Hey, as long as she isn't building a cake with a competitors logo on it, it is good

those snowflakes are indeed made with molds.... but it takes just the right consistency of gumpaste or you get a horrid sticky mess, not to mention painstaking hours with an exacto-knife cutting out teeny tiny little corners and swirls and buttons and beads and details once you remove the paste from the mold.
...and then of course there's the matter of what to do with them once you've managed to successfully extract them....
The cake itself doesn't come 'till later this week - we want it to be fresh and delicious by the time it gets to the wedding, of course!
I've been working through the night on this thing... I've made so many snowflakes your eyes would spin. My entire freaking kitchen is COVERED in luster dust.
I also made a really cool tree branch that's going to be laying across the front of the cake; there will be snowflakes floating on wires up and down this branch so it looks like there's a snow flurry happening around the cake.
I made the topper too; 3 extra large snowflakes standing up around a huge flurry of wired smaller snowflakes.
Everything is sparkling and shimmering and lookin' faboo!! I'll take pix when it's all dry, right now it all looks odd b/c everything is drying on its various odd support mechanisms which aren't very glamorous (wood dowels, cotton balls, cardboard box tops, etc).
I've got to take my dog to the vet in 2hours, then I've got to get some sleep, then it's off to restaurant depot for ingredients and then the fun begins again!!

Wow the art work is awesome. Do you do this professionally? I imagine its good money if your good at it. I know my jaw hit the floor when my soon to be told me how much our cake was going to cost for our wedding.
Got any pics of the whole cake done yet?

ok... we're getting closer.... I'm finally finished with all the decorations, 2morrow begins the baking!!!
I'm getting anxious too... the whole "will they like it" deal I go through before every single delivery. anxiety dreams about delivering piles of crumbs, or getting into car accidents on the way to the reception hall..... its all very nere wracking.
i did snap some pix of some of the things I made, but again, none of it is on the cake (b/c it hasn't been baked yet!), and ALL of it is busy drying on its various un-glamorous apparatuses.
the 1st two pix are going to be the topper for the cake; they are handmade edible snowflakes on wires, which are topped off with crystals. the whole thing is resting in a paper towel roll in a glass, so the wires keep their shape.
the 2nd two pix are the branch I sculpted - also edible - that is going to "grow" up the front of the cake at an angle. It's resting on all sorts of things to ensure it keeps its shape as it dries. The pointy things around it are pine needles that I'll be attaching to the branch with icing when I assemble the cake on-site. They are far too delicate to attach beforehand.
The last picture is an example of one of four large handmade edible snowflakes that will be surrounding the base of the wired topper. (rather fuzzy photo...sorry)
i'm SUPER excited to see this coming together.... but like I said.... I'm also getting super nervous.... wish me luck!!!
