You are in a room where there are no metal objects except for two iron rods. Only one of them is a magnet.
How can you identify this magnet?
hang one from a string if one end swings north you have your magnet, if it doesnt try to swing north its the plain Iron rod.

Actaully that wouldn't work at all. You'd need to ask them what the OTHER guy would say if you asked him.

actually it would, the honest man will point to his own village when asked which village he is from, the liar would always point to the wrong village when asked. so the solution works quite well.

exactly, because remember, the liars live in village A. this means that the honest man would point to B, as would the liar.

Three masters of logic wanted to find out who was the wisest one. So they invited the grand master, who took them into a dark room and said: "I will paint each one of you a red or a blue dot on your forehead. When you walk out and you see at least one red point, raise your hands. The one who says what colour is the dot on his own forehead first, wins." Then he painted only red dots on every one. When they went out everybody had their hands up and after a while one of them said: "I have a red dot on my head."
How could he be so sure?

I was just rereading this answer and I thought of one problem. On one hand a person from village B would of course point to his own village. The problem is with a person from village A. Although that person would always lie he could point in any direction other than his own village and still be lying.

thats why you ask, "which village he is from" not "what direction his village is in."

I suppose, but that only tells you which village he is not from. You would still be lost in the forest not knowing which village was which or what direction either is in.
I suppose it depends on the asumptions. I thought that being in the forest you would not know where anything was.

The answer is:
There's no letter "e" in the entire paragraph; one of the most popular letters in the alphabet!
