awesome .i volunteer at the local fire station.we get "lift assists" all the time people who are way over weight that fall and cant get themselves up.some have been calling for years .one is around 400+ lbs we have been there at least 200 times.she has never tried to lose weight. finally maybe 2 weeks ago we had enough and called adult services.we have picked her up a few times to find cookies under her. very sad.she is for the most part a nice lady .52 years old and cannot do anything for herself. i dont know what adult services did but no calls for 2 weeks now which is a record.

Wow ironeagle, thank you for sharing your story! (and you too Jeff!) People like you are inspiring! Tell me more about your healthy eating habits and maybe I can incorporate them into my daily living and struggle not to binge eat.

Seth you have the Best reason to get help called your Daughter. Trust me I know all about needing help with Weight. 2 Years ago I was close to 500 Lbs. Yesterday at my Docs I was only 380 and remember this I am on meds that cause me to Gain Weight and can not eat anything with anything that has any Artifical Sweetners in it. I only have 120 more Lbs to go so about 18 more months and I am doing it with HELP aka my Wife she is right there with me she wanted to lose some weight with me and she has dropped 40 Lbs we are going and now our Neighbor she wants in our Group. Called it can be done even on a low income called Fresh Fruit and Veggies No PACKAGED FOODS AT ALL. I cook everything from Scratch and my kids and I are Healthier because of it.
Good Job
Seth, it's good that you are getting a handle on this now. I am where the Eagle was 2 years ago, trust me, you don't want to deal with that.

Yeah, and we would finally get your tank done - and I'd help you spend your money to stock it!!! lol
I work nearly eight hour days and I am tired and sore when I come home. I manage a half an acre garden as well as a small garden in front of my apartment as well. I also have a daughter that I take care of a little more than half time and I make time for my wife and I to be together - not to mention having to help keep the house clean. I am also a busy person!!
Binge eating is mainly caused by depression and stress - both of which I have plenty of right now. Next week I hope I get to go to see my family doctor so that I can get some professional help. Maybe once I take a few happy pills the weight will start coming off from not emotionally eating and binging.

My thoughts are with you as well man. Keep your chin up too. No, I don't want to deal with that at all - and that's how I came to accept my condition and am seeking help before it spirals out of control again.
My daughter and my health are two great reasons to get this under control right now...

I was going to tell you to keep busy will also keep you from eating, but sound like you are busy enough. Where do you find time to eat, LOL. I do have one thing, I prepare my lunches for the entire week, then stick to it, typical it's backed chicken, veggies w/ light dressing and fruit. This week I tried something different made a batch of brown rice and chile beans instead of the chicken getting a little tired of chicken. To toot my own horn my weight was up to 255 got down to 243 at christmas, after the holidays went up to 258. Weighed myself this Saturday and I'm back down to 243. I really starting to feel good, but still have a ways to go. My goal is to get down to 200.

I binge when my wife isnt home. Typically most younger guys would do other activities while their wives/girlfriends are away. I would stay up at night after the family went to sleep and go in the kitchen and just find stuff to eat.
I keep busy. I havent binged since the day before my original post. Im 239.6lbs as of yesterday. I would like to get back down to my highschool weight at 180 and put on some muscle, but i couldnt do that ever until i accepted that i had a problem. Now that i know i do and can get some help and deal with it and maybe loose some weight in the process.
My doc just gave me a prescription for "welbutrin" ( i think that is the way you spell it) its a depression medication that also curbs appetite. I still have a doctors appointment to go to as well.
Im going to an overeaters anonymous meeting this evening. :)

What you need primarily right now is not diet or exercise tips, it's professional medical help. You need a doc who specializes in eating disorders.
You need weight watchers to tell you not to eat a whole bag of dough-nuts? You already know that. You need help finding out why you do it anyways. What you are doing is not just a product of an unhealthy lifestyle. Support groups (like weight watchers) are fantastic in helping to re-educate and and motivate, but how many diets have you started in your life time? How often have you fallen back to binging? Diet and exercise.... absolutely you are going to have to tackle those things and weight watchers and other forms of support are essential. But none of these are set up to handle eating disorders.
Get your family doctor to suggest some eating disorder specialists (not sure how easy/hard that is with your healthcare plan and location). Research them online. Then get the specialist to suggest a nutritionists or any other specialties you may need. They will know your needs better than your GP.
Eating disorders are deep-seated issues, they take a long time to work out..... if they ever do. But this is one "diet" that isn't really about food or exercise.

I haven't been "back" to work yet, but I return this week.
I think I missed a couple of your posts, that's what I get for phone reading. Glad to see you are getting help. It's awesome you have OA within your reach. Greg pointed me to your post. I use to work with kids afflicted with eating disorders, but did not see too much in regards to binge eaters. Those I saw where medically unstable and leaned towards people with anorexia and bulemia. Non purging binge eaters afflictions tend to get admitted under diagnosis not related to their eating disorder. Partially because of ignorance and partially because of ease of diagnosis.
I take wellbutrin XL. It does curb your appetite in time. It also doesn't mess with ummmm.... "fun times" like the other antidepressants can. If you smoke, prepare to stop, even if you don't want to. It takes awhile (like over a month) for this to really kick in. You need to be taking the correct dose for this.

Cranberry it's funny you mention Wellbutrin XL.....I've been on it for 6 years and has done nothing for my smoking......Funny thing is my insurance company had denied it at first under the impression the Dr was prescribing to cease my smoking.......

Shawn, I mentioned Wellbutrin XL earlier in the thread. My doctor prescribed it for me to take.

I am so glad this subject came up. I just went to check on my dose (300mg, BTW, how about you?) and I realized I have not taken any this week. Sure hope I took it last week. I knew there was something missing from my pill case when I did the weekly "refill". I wanted to smoke because at the time I was stressed. There was just zero desire.
