I found the clicking

So I was looking around in my tank tonight and I saw two eyes staring right back at me. Yup, it's a mantis shrimp. So I take out the rock he was hiding in, flushed him out, and that was that. A couple of minutes later, I hear more clicking. Look at the sand at the base of one of my rocks....another mantis. I tried catching him with all sorts of apparatus but he just kept getting away. I just set up a glass cup with a dead piece of shrimp in it to try to lure him into it. Once in, he should have trouble getting out since the sides are too slippery. How does that sound as a trap?

I have heard of this working before. Soundlsike a good idea. What are you going to do with the mantis you caught already?
I can take it off your hands if you want :)

Well I'm trying to decide if I wanna keep the critter or get rid of him. He's currently in my 10 gallon tank that is set up for quarantine. If I decide I don't want him/them, you'll get first dibs aarone.

Sure thing guys. Both of them are apparently hiding in the rock work so I'll post when I get a chance to snap a shot of them.

You may also take them to your local LFS and see if they would be interested in them...get a store credit or something...

I hope I never get one of those in my tank, seems like it would be such a pain to get to them.. They are pretty neat looking though, too bad they're such stinkers

The Drinking Glass trick only works for crabs. Mantis swim as well as fish so they can just swim right out... sorry.
