This week I turn one year older and when the time came for the wife to ask what I wanted, I told her fish stuff. She said she has a surprise that will have to wait until Thursday. But she did let me go to the LFS and have some fun. I have a 29g tank with two clowns and a CB. I have a few small coral frags that I have picked up over the last few months but I wanted to get some thing other then a frag (they are great but I need to add some bigger colonies to fill up some of the empty space).
I picked up a Green Star Polyp, Yellow polyp, Superman Yuma Ricordea, and a green Candy Cane Trumpet. My camara is no good but here are some pics.

Hi!! Your new stuff looks nice! When holidays or my bday comes up I ask for fish stuff too! My family doesn't get it!! Anyway, I also have the green star polyps and yellow polyps, they are fast growers and will spread onto the rocks!! I had to move another frag because the gsp were taking over! Just letting you know!!

I read that about the GSP. Will they spread on to the sand, then jump to the rocks? Right now it is all on its own rock. I knew going in that it would be something that I would have to keep an eye one. Thanks for the heads up!!!

I would get a piece of LR with some good coralline algae growth on it add it to your tank and go over it with a tooth brush to release the spores

My lfs has a tank that they bought in December, it is a basic, stripped, hob filter, two ph deal. It really doesn't even have alot of live rock. It's a 40 gallon and maybe has 20 pounds of rock.
This tank is absolutely covered with coraline. I have never seen anything like it. I go in weekly and they are always cleaning the glass. The growth in there is crazy. They haven't added anything in the way of supplements. Everyone checks it out, it's quite the interesting attraction.

Do you think that I need more coralline algae? I have a ton on the back glass (and on the two sides and front near the seams and sand). It does not vary too much in color, it is all kinda light purple.
To add more Can I just brush the back glass with a tooth brush?
Thanks for the feedback Joe!!!

This week I turn one year older and when the time came for the wife to ask what I wanted, I told her fish stuff. She said she has a surprise that will have to wait until Thursday .
Thursday came and the wife got me a real nice RO/DI unit. It is a

75 GPD RO/DI 5 Stage *PLUS* System.

So far I am super happy with it. It came with a TDS meter and I was producing 0 TDS water within an hour after starting to set it up. I need to get a big container to keep the new RO water in. I was using 5 gal jugs that I lugged back and forth to walmart. So the first night I was filling up just the 5 gal jugs one at a time. And of course the one I started late night had a nice big spill (it was after 2am, Just like you mom always says, "nothing good happens after 2 in the morning"). I have learned another lesson. If I am going to just fill the 5g I will need to put it in a rubbermaid tub first. Just in case.
I just wanted to share how much I love my new RO/DI unit!!!

Don't tell the wife but this is just one step in my master plan to get a BIG reef tank going. shhhhhh!
