I have to agree. I will not own any crabs in any of my tanks. Not worth the trouble.

I feel your frustration meowzer! I have a pretty big, kinda medium hermit.... I USED to have 2 big turbos, until mister hermit crab decided to evict one and upgrade to a bigger more fancy shell a week later & kill the other one! Now I have no turbos and the hubby will not let me get rid of his hermit cause "its his favorite thing in the tank" I bought him 2 new shells today and within less than a half hour he moved yet again into one of the new shells (keep in mind he killed my turbo on friday... Today is sunday and he has moved already lol)
My little hermits dont seem to bother anyone and I havent seen them in any new homes (though im sure they will)... But god I hate the big hermit. If I got rid of him, im sure id be sleeping outside lol
For those empty snail shells, get a clear cup & put them all in there. Leave them in the tank in the cup for like 2 weeks (just to be sure), the live ones will crawl out & leave the empty ones behind... Ya never know if theres a snail pulled way back in its shell
