I Hate Taxes!

Now this might not come as a suprise to those of you who have been paying them for awhile, but taxes are crazy! I suppose it did take me awhile to figure this out, but in my defense I was spoiled with not having to pay taxes for a few years. Of course that is the advantage of having almost no income.
So now I have a good paying job again and it is driving me crazy when I realize I am barely taking home any more money then I did as a college student. Its like, I'm waiting in line for a nice decent sized piece of pie, and when it finally is my turn they say they're cutting the pieces in half.
Just thought I'd share and search for some sympathy from the rest of you tax payers.

I trust you like driving to that good new job on a nice smooth (relatively) paved road, instead hiking through a forrest?

Those nice smooth roads are paid for with state and federal excise taxes on gasoline for the most part.
You think income taxes are bad?
Look at the following bills if you have them
Phone
Cell phone
Internet
Cable/sattlite
Gas
Electric
Not to mention hidden excise taxes on things like sporting goods and car parts.

They don't have many of those relatively smooth paved roads around me and they haven't gotten any better as the amount of taxes I've paid went up.
Now I understand taxes are a necessary evil, but it is a little disappointing when it seems like as my income goes up the amount of money I take home remains the same.

Those are crazy too, however atleast in those cases I have the option to say that I don't need a phone/cell phone, or cable, or superfast internet.

For a second I thought you said, I hate texas. You almost made a lifelong enemy

I hate that you work hard to make more and when you finally do, you move to a higher tax bracket.

But I hate Texas too....Those Longhorns are really obnoxious. Go Texas Tech!!!

I haven't been anywhere in Texas besides an airport so I don't know if I hate it there. How are the taxes in texas? I need to find a place without or with low state and local taxes.

Reminds me of the Stamp Act.
Now we pay:
Federal Income tax
State income tax
Local income tax
Gasoline tax
Property tax
State sales tax
Local sales tax
FICA tax
Medicare tax
Death tax
phone tax
TV tax
internet tax
the tax I forgot but they just passed
I wonder what the founding fathers think of us now?
I know there needs to be some "income so gov't can do its thing, bt then again the gov't has gotten too big and forgotten it is using our money in a drunken spending spree.

sales tax and property taxes are high, but if you live in an unincorporated area you don't have to worry about that too much. And NO STATE INCOME TAX!

Yeah but living in an unincorporated area means you probably don't have a local fire department, police station, and nice roads to drive on. I like knowing it's not going to take 30 minutes for the firemen to show up at my house if it catches fire.
Property taxes suck bigtime.
I can relate. It's a bummer to look at my check and realize about $100 is just gone. But hey, it's like Christmas twice a year after I file in February.

LoL, 4 a minute there I thought ur thread title was "I hate Texas" and I was a-fixin' 4 a fight! LoL.
and yes, taxes are teh lame. Although, they are a HECK of a lot better in PA than they are in NJ. My old neighbors in NJ, who owned a tiny split-level home with 7rooms on less than a 5th of an acre were paying SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR in property taxes. We, in PA, on 10.28 acres of land, with a raised-ranch style home, are paying about 1100.
not to mention the car insurance here is LESS THAN HALF of what we paid in NJ.

Yeah, taxes suck! We need to cut gov't spending drastically! We waste soooo much money. Nebraska sucks for taxes as well, wish the wife would move.....
Also, that awesome military we have that are taking care of terrorists for us....it costs a lot of money.

Just don't let your house catch on fire... Besides volunteer fire depots are fun... Call the sheriff, (in town the cops aren't any better anyway) and who cares that is why everyone drives a pickup anyways. (I live in Houston, the roads are really bad here too...)
