I hope I can swim.... (First venture into Saltwater 29g build)

The front section (34" wide) will open up on hinges. Im not sure if I am going to have it open towards the top in one large door... or have double doors that hinge on the side pieces. Honestly... I haven't thought that far ahead yet. Mainly concentrating on the base becuase I will have quite a few compound cuts.
As for ventilation... I am considering just leaving the back of the canopy open and let it escape from the back and up against the wall. I might end up adding a couple of fans in the top though.

All this talk about stand building makes me want to build a custom stand that would have my display refuge build in under my DT, and then have a lower section with doors that I could still get into for my sump and all my other equipment.

If you are going to go with high heat producing lights I would definitely have openings in the top of the canopy to accommodate a fan or fans. IMO with the ambient temperature of the room basically staying the same the hot air rising form the lights and tank water will pack against the top continually heating the water as it slowly gets pushed to the back of the canopy and up

I do know that originally I will go with a standard 4 foot flourscent light. Eventually I'll get it changed over to a DIY LED system.

Keep your fingers crossed. If the weathers willing and the creek don't rise, I'm going after some lumber to build the bottom half of my custom stand tomarrow.

I guess you could say the creek rose. Thanks to my check not being as high as it should have been I had to make a choice. I could either pay off a credit card in full and thus have one less monthly payment or buy supplies for the stand.
The stand lost.
I was expecting to have enough to do both but it wasn't meant to be this go round.

The money I have been expecting finally came in!

Time to go get supplies to start building the base to my first salt tank. I know what Im going to be doing on monday if it's not raining.
Did I mention....

CRAP!!
I wish my foot would swivel around so I can kick my own butt. While I was walking out of work tonight I got to thinking about my stand build over the course of the next two days. Then a thought popped into my head.
It's a sweet idea, but now my build just got 10x more complicated and prolly at least 5x more expensive.

Im back to the drawing boards.
