No matter what I do I cant seem to keep aptasia out of my seahorse tank. I use joes juice but they ALWAYS come back, even in the same spot. I dont know what to do anymore... I know copperband butterflys will eat them but is there anything else?? I really dont want to break down my tank but I think I might need too.
Are there any inverts or anything else at all that will take care of them? Should I move my horses to another tank, hit the tank with joes juice and then put a copperband in there untill all of the small ones are eaten?
Thanks!

Hmm I wish I would have know that sooner LOL. How many should I get for a 29 gallon? Do they eat all sizes or just the small ones? The tank is pretty heavily infested...
Thanks

HMMM...I have 3 in my 54g, I had 2 aptasia...and now none....I have 1 in my 29g...no aptasia though...For that size tank...maybe 2...BUT if you have that many aptasia, you may have to do a manual removal...like people say boiling water injected in them...or that Joe's Juice...

Me too! First outbreak ever...had a couple of peppermints in my 12nano and no problem. Started a 24g about 4 months ago and skipped the shrimp this time. Well today, trip to the LFS for 2 of them. Mine are small yet (aptasias) so hopefully these guys will do the job. I have had them (shrimps) in all my tanks and could never understand why I never had any apts...now I know why! Until I joined this site did I realize what an important role they play!

I don't think a cleaner does anything for aptasia...
just for the benefit of the tank and seahorse, not the aptasia...
I just drove a half hour both ways to my lfs that was closed and didnt have them anyway. I dont understand why they cant just get a phone

be very careful. They can sting and cause major problems for seahorses. If it were me. I would take the rocks out and boil the ones with aptasia. The stings can cause lesions that can get infected.

I might have to do that next but I think I'm going to try the shrimp first. I have tons of things in my rick now and I really don't want to kill it. I don't know how it will effect my biological filtration and my water params either.
Thanks though. I'll keep that in mind if it gets worse, I never knew that though, thanks.
