It is the one SWF sells as maircultured horn coral.. I took a picture but isn't very good...Its on another computer, I moved it again so it isn't out for sure.
The cloves are not open either, just a tiny peek rfom them, I figure they need time.

Update:
The SPS horn coral didn't make it. It never opened just slowly lost color and turned to a skeleton...
I moved it to more light, then less light, changed PH water directions nothing worked, all the water tests read perfect.

SWF credited my account..day 13..I am not going to order any more SPS corals. I run carbon and changed it the day the corals arrived, but I have a colt coral and Kenya tree and I was told they don't get along but that carbon should have made it okay...I also have mushrooms but nothing was ever close enough to touch it.
The cloves are blooming a little more each day..they still don't look like the SWF picture..LOL
The only other coral I ever had go down that fast was a brain coral I dipped before someone told never dip a brain.

O man, I really want one of those Green Horns, any ideas why it didn't make it? Where did you put it in your tank? Ideas?

No clue, I tried everything...I have MH 175W with 96W actinic..I did my research and it said it likes allot of light, so I put it high in the tank. After a week I tried to place it lower because it was starting to lose color, not bleaching but skeleton showing..it was just down hill from there. I moved the power heads for more flow..then less flow.
I changed the carbon the day I got the new coral because stressed coral likes to make war. It arrived healthy looking and very pretty green, it just needed to open up but it never did. It was my first attempt at SPS coral..so I'm really bummed.

Im sorry that's a bummer! Don't get discouraged. I definitely do better with some than others. Thanks for the info, maybe I will see if it comes in a frag size....

Don't not get one because of me...I also have leathers and mushrooms. I was told that SPS and them don't get along...I ran the carbon but I think that's why it didn't open..it was surrounded by the enemy.

that sucks. sounds like it RTN'd on you. Moving it around probably made it worse. Horn Corals are really hardy too. What was your dkh?

API test reads 196.9 for KH so DKH = 11 According to the test instructions between 8 and 12 are in good numbers.
Sorry but what does RTN'd maen? I left it alone up until the last 3 days, 10 days to give a coral is plenty to see if it will bloom and when I saw skeleton I knew it was going downhill fast so last ditch I tried other things..

RTN = rapid tissue necrosis.
I have yet to lose any sps frags in my system and im a firm believer of keeping my system EXTRA clean just for sps. Between 8 and 12 is fine, but ive always felt 11-12 was pushing it, at least for my system. i like to keep mine between 8-9. Then again i know a buddy whos dkh is at 14 and all his stuff looks great. What was your phosphate lvls and nitrates? Losing the colors leads me to believe its a nutrient problem. As for trying other things, if i see signs of stress on sps, i would leave it alone and hope for the best by keeping the water pristine. if its starting to RTN, I would frag off the parts that still had tissue to prevent it. sps are delicate, and sometimes we just lose out on the luck. dont give up on them though

It is 100% skeleton not one spot of green life at all this morning, so I took a picture and reported its loss to SWF. I had just done a water change and ran carbon to ensure the best quality of water the day before the new corals arrived.
When I tested today the only number that I found alarming was a 0.5 phosphate level..it was 0.
Nitrates were at 20, I started a little refugium to try and really lower it, even though under 40 is considered safe...but it is still 20 and has been for 3 years.

Most sps keepers keep their nitrates at 0, which is why they do vodka dosing, zeovit, or the more recent solid vodka dosing. 20 nitrates was probably the main reason for it losing its colors as well. Carbon doesnt create pristine water quality, though it removes many toxins. Since it was 100% skeleton, for sure it sounds like RTN.

Well I realy don't want to try vodka dosing...mabe after some time the little refugium will do some good. So until the nitrates are at total 0, don't get anymore SPS...Thanks for the heads up. Now I feel bad because I killed the little critter, thinking my tank had good numbers to keep it going....big sigh...live and learn but our critters pay the price.
At least the mystery is solved.

The coral could have also been on its way out already, so dont blame yourself. Some people have nitrates in their sps tanks but they usually dont let it get up there. As for vodka dosing, its amazing what it does if you keep at it.
