I was turning the switch on the adapter off...
okay bro a couple things here....
get a towel and dry ur hands before flipping the switch....i turn everything off on my tanks when doing a w/c and maintenance as well!
Also my siphon has a clicker thing in it and i dump it under water and wave it back and forth to start the siphon, no sucking required!
My maintenance day requires 3 buckets....2 for new SW and 1 for the old stuff! I put it up on a chair so the tube just goes in the bucket!
Than i just dump the new stuff in! Not very technical i know! LOL
i do have an extra pump though im not using for anything.....i should prob get some tubing and a clamp for it!

What pump are you using to push a 25 foot head?
Head pressure is only measured by the vertical change - from the bottom of a trashcan to the top of a tank is usually only 5-6.5 feet. I run more like 40 foot of hose, but 90% of it is just laying on the floor - and the quiet one 4000hh or even cheeper rio 2100 pumps sw just fine thru my storage tanks & into the DT. either one will pump 50 gal in ~20 - 25 minutes. I do 50-100g waterchanges, and never taken longer than 3-4 hours, and changing filtersocks, cleaning skimmer cups, pruning calupera, some glass cleaning is included in this time

I have had my 90g tank for ...what 6 years and not once have I ever "cleaned" it. I have done water changes, I use a mag float to keep the glass clear. I have taken a damp cloth and wiped away salt creep or dust, but I have never used a bunch of buckets and cleaned the tank like I used to do on my freshwater tanks. Meowzer uses a long hose for removing water for water changes.
I use ONE bucket, I remove the old water into the bucket and dump it in the toilet.... and then use my utility pump to pump new (mixed 24 hours) saltwater from the mixing tub to the tank. A 20 minute job, and maybe an hour if I decide to clean up the power heads while I have the tank pumps off.
The CUC takes care of algae, and stirs the sand, and a turkey baster takes care of anything settling on the rocks, but a good power head arrangment will even eliminate that need.
Oh and I also have power strips mounted on the wall....and plugged into GFCI outlets...never have electric on the floor around a fish tank.

You don't want to know what I have been doing all morning.

My tank has been a little neglected lately, but I have caught up on my maintenance, scraped a ton of algae off and changed my rock work around (did this to remove some powerheads). Margarita time!!

meowzer- thank you so much. I went out today and bought a clean trash can and a submersible pump... I already have a hose.
I really apreciate it and i'm glad that water changes will be a lot easier from now on

Good for you! I know it will help your back. I hope you get the power strips and get the electric off the floor, we wouldn't want to lose you to some horrible mishap. Stay safe!

yes definitley! I also organized all the electrical wires in the back of the tank so I think that's another safety step, too!
Thanks guys- I really appreciate all your comments! This is why the forums here were made!
