Definitely a trigger, clown or picasso! After running into them while SCUBA diving they got my eternal respect! Too bad I can't keep them in my soon-to-be reef

Your tank is too small for any of those triggers, unless you get them small and plan on not keeping them for long. How about a dwarf lionfish?

I stand by a 55 gallon is plenty big enough for an undulate - but keeping one of these limits you to just that alone - another idea for a cool species tank would be a frogfish or some sort. Lots of different color varieties out there....

Hey David! As some have suggested for you get triggers....they are great fish but are messy eaters. You would more than likely have a problem with nitrates with one of these fish. I have a Huma in a 75 gallon and he is great, but eats anything I put in there. I keep my trates down by removing or netting any uneaten food. You could more than likely have one of these fish but It will take some work to keep the tank stable. I would recommend a Protein Skimmer for sure.
Next with the Fu ....they are great fish but do not ship well. If you can get one from your LFS that is healthy you are half way there. Hopefully Frank will read this post and give you some better advice on the lions as he is an expert. There are other dwarf lions that you can get that are more tolerant and ship well that are just as much a joy to have......the Antenneta ( I think the spelling is right there) Lion, the radiatta are 2 that are great and would do well in a 55. Keep in mind that some of these lions still get to be 6-8 inches. So the water is still gonna have to be monitored closely...but they are not as messy eaters as the trigger fishes.
Once your tank is more mature a Coral beauty or a Flame angel would be a nice addition for color. I hope I was of help to you. Another good fish might be a snowflake eel..if you like those!!!:)

My undulated trigger is pretty aggressive but he is an eating machine. They are messy but mine always cleans up his mess later on...He is very vibrant with his orange stripes and is quite active too. I do not reccomend any other fish unless they can hold their own in there with them. Good Luck in your search!

Oh yeah...I have hermits in the tank with my undulate and he does not bother them at all...I must be lucky in this because they help keep the waste down as well...

i have a orange tailed blue devil damsel. he is pretty, and mean. i've got two blue devils to go with him and he's always keeping them in check. and he's the only thing that messes with he dominos. in my 120 gal he's the king of the tank, plus he won't get too large and doesn't destroy the cleanup crew or corals.

I agree that yellow tangs are very aggressive but I do not recommend a tang in a 55 as they need lots of room to swim...thus in a 55 they can get stressed and you may have a problem with disease.

Go for an eel. Snowflake eels are cheap, pretty, and aggresive. Puffers can be aggressive depending on the species.

If you don't mind droping a whole lot of cash and don't mind just about anything else in your tank getting eaten get a Hawaiian Dragon Eel, they are absolutly beautiful and the meanest eel out there. Supposedly they eat other eels. The only concern is tank size. As they grow they'd probably need atleast a 75.

I think it depends on what you mean by aggressive. A lot of people consider lionfish aggressive, because they usually need to be weaned from live to frozen foods. Personally, I've always found lionfish to be the exact opposite of aggressive. Unless it can fit in their mouth, they leave it alone.
Pseudochromis/Dottybacks on the other hand are usually under 3" and are meaner than most triggers. They just don't have the size/jaw power that triggers do. Most of the larger wrasses are aggressive and very brightly colored. Twinspot Maori Wrasses are about the prettiest fish IMO but they're next to impossible to find in a fish store. I've never seen one. Only pictures. Which is probably a good thing, or I'd own it lol

i also say snow flake eel!!! they rock..... i would second the Hawaiian Dragon Eel but you will need a way bigger tank for that.... 75 gal nah i say it will need 100gal +

Snowflakes are a great eel...mine wasnt aggressive in the slightest though...i used to hand feed mine, however i dont reccomend this:p
They also wont eat "feeder" fish usually, unless near starvation. They prefer squid, crabs, shrimps etc.
James:)
