I have never seen these types of stars before in my tank... now I've found two in two days in my sps tank :scared:. The smaller one was found sticking out of a rock and the other on a powerhead. Any ideas if these are the bad guys??

These are typical hitchhikers on live rock. I've got several and they have never bothered any other inverts/corals. They seem to be a good addition to reef diversity.

do a searh for Asterina Starfish. I believe those are what they are. Several articles praise them and several say they are destructive. I have several in my tank and have not seen them near any corals. I will trust them until this happens:)

For the most part it seems that GARF started the bad press on them. There are many very experienced folks that have had no bad experiences with them. In my tank they seem to be harmless algae scrapers:D

There are several common species. I know of at least one that will eat SPS coral. The rest appear to eat bacterial slime.
