the reason why i say its 100% DEF. not a zoo is because his piece like a gonipora has a hard inner skeleton that the pores and heads come out of, whereas zoos, much liek a mushroom just attach to the rock..
the deciding factor,, if it retrats and goes in at night its definantly gonipora of they stay out its a zoo..but i would put all my money on the fact that its a gonipora 100% with that skeleton it has, especially because you can see some spores half in and half out of the skeleton , zoos dont do that ..they just attach on rock..

I could see how you think it is a flow pot but here are a few reason why i dont think it is.
1-Very unusual growth for a flowpot
2-You can see where the matt is spreading over the rock
3-It just looks like a caribbean zooanthid lol.
iding is pretty damn impossible most of the time unless you can see the coral in person.
just my 2 cents

1. look at my flowerpot, same charectericstics and it grew the same way eventually
2.thats not a mat it looks like the exoskeleton where they are retracting in and out
3.i guess it might but all the charecteristics point to flowerpot.
not an argument i just firmly beleive it a gonopora, hopefully someone else will see what im saying if they have owned one like myself..once again the true test is when you got it was it totally in? when its in the dark at night does it totally go inside the skeleton if so its a gonipora, if its stay out and it looks like it rolls into little balls on the OUTSIDE of the rock then its zoos .. but i see no rock just a skeleton..youll also know when ity settles in if it gets long tentecles like mine then its obviously not a zoo,, but if they stay short for along time it could be a zoo

the exoskeleton would be white not brown. And if it was receeding you would clearly be able to see white.I know tons of people that have ''tried'' to keep this coral like everyone else.imo its a waste of time.

i dont think those are zoos at all...the polyps seem to retract IN the mat...not in a polyp..seems like a goniopora to me too
