Sure seems that way. It does like more Muraena, rather then Gymnothorax, which only helps your chances. Kidako's seem to have the very very slight appearance of vertical striping, esp. on the dorsal, rather then completely uniform like yours. Though that said, I couldn't find a small Kidado like yours.
What did you buy him as? Miscellaneous Moray for like $40?

No, Florida, a little ways off
. Just a stab in the dark, hoping maybe it was some where in reasonable driving distance. $40 for a $900 eel, leaves a lot of room for gas money, to still come out ahead...
Still can't guarantee it's a Kidado though. Have you posted this else where on the internet? Would you mind if I did, asking for an ID for you?
The eel could very possibly be a Stout Moray - Gymnothorax eurostus. Very common in Hawaiian waters, and would help explain the price. Kidado's are deepwater eels from Japan, who are only caught on hook-and-line (collection via nets & divers is illegal there). A $900 fish just doesn't turn into a $40 fish much, if ever.... It probably cost the wholesaler more then $40 in shipping costs from Japan. I'm not writing it off as a Kidado, just saying thinking about it, doubt begins to build.
