If you have 384watts isn't really 192w?

I know all these fixtures on the market say the total wattage( we're talking pc lights). But since you only use the 10k for a time then the .03 blue for some time aren't you really only shinning 192w on whatever it is you are growing/lighting? You would need to have ALL the lights on ALL the time to achieve the 384w effect, yes?
By the way I am describing a 4 x 96 watt fixture.

Yes obviously you don't count the wattage of a light that isn't on, but why do "I" only use one type at a time? People do turn on the actinics an hour or so before the 10Ks and leave them on an hour later, but I don't know many that don't have them both on the rest of the time.

I posted this question because I hear a lot of chatter about keeping sps with pc lights but you would need x amount of light. Most of the fixtures come with both color bulbs but it seems to me that you would need to leave all the lights on to achieve the required wattage using pcs.

Yes, of course. Why would you not have all of the lights on most of the time?

I guess that is the obvious answer! But people talk about daylight, evening light, and night(moon light). So do you light all of your lights, then turn off daylights then blues then go to moons?

acintic, white and acintic, acintic, moonlight, repeat acintic only cycles for a short period to reduce light shock and to simulate dusk and dawn

Do what is pleasing to you but you should have a period of at least 8 hours where all of the lights are on.
