OK, I can do most anything I set my mind to except two things... Cook, and decorate. You have all helped out a lot when I needed to attempt a new meal but now I need to attempt a new kitchen. I need a theme. I don't want rooster or apples or any of the other overdone stuff...oh and Ivy leaves. I was trying to do a squirrel and acorn theme, but do you realize how hard it is to do squirrels!! And I've only found ONE acorn.
Anyway, any ideas will be considered.
Others I don't want...
Lighthouses
welp, that's it...

What color are your walls. My kitchen is pretty small so I can't do dark colors, But I like the idea... Yup, I think you need to clean up your kitchen and post some pics.

And for the fish idea, my first thought was, "not in the kitchen", but I remembered that I had squirrels, so fish really isn't that far off, but I guess the fish design is to done...and what I'm gonna eventually do in my bathroom.

Thanks for the idea.
As far as your 3 year old...If he's old enough to destroy stuff, he's old enough to get a job and replace it!! Send him out into the working world...
Or her...

I loooove the old 'garden wall' theme.
My mom painted the walls of the kitchen a very light tan colour, and then sponged a deep brownish gold onto it, to give it texture.
Then, together we stenciled and painted emerald green/black ivy along the tops of the walls and did clusters of ivy around the doors of the kitchen. It was sweeeeet.

That does sound nice. I don't like ivy cause all the ivy I've seen was way overdone with no talent... Ivy rug under the table, ivy salt/pepper shakers, ivy border around the ceiling, etc...
I bet I woulda like your mom's kitchen though, cause she didn't buy her ivy kitchen outa the mail...

tizz....you crack me up. Knowing your woodworking skills, I know your kitchen probably puts most to shame. Mine right now is a garden/birdhouse.
I have wainscoting....green / white chair rail / I'll post a pic tomorrow. Its very simple and not over powering.

Just cause I can build it don't mean I can think the stuff up... I gotta copy something.
Heck, Ty Pennington is the only carpenter I know of that can think up AND build...
But as it stands, my kitchen is white walls, cherry cabinets. Not the nice ones, but the, generic cheep crap that comes in all the cookie cutter houses...
Oh, but my floor looks good. I did that, lol...

honey..........I've seen your floors AND your trim work. DO NOT under estimate yourself.
We will get you through this. Your floors are almost like mine. you need a little color. And maybe the squirrels could find a new home somewhere.........tell them to relax. Is that wallpaper between your baseboard and chair rail or paint??

It's paint...In real life it looks like suede. In the pics it looks like crap. Do I hafta get a pic of that too?? The dining room looks good! Color, trim, etc...
I kept the kitchen white trying to keep that steril look. But it don't look steril, it look boring...
