I'm a Liberal, and I think the ACLU...

And honestly, I think this whole thread is a perfect example of the social and political divide in this country. Contrary to what most conservatives think about libs, and libs think about conservatives... neither "person" (for the most part) is ever 100% on board with the perceived "party mentality". For example:
- I think that a person who owns a handgun is far more likely to see his child accidentally kill him or herself than ever use it defending his property. And because of that, I think gun restrictions in this country should be much tougher.
- I also think that even though in the short term it may help boost the economy, this spend, spend, spend mentality that Obama is employing is going to destroy the country in the long term.
- Say what you want about health care, but the fact of the matter is that McDonalds, video games, bad parenting, and socioeconomics are why people in this country are sick. You can manipulate the way people are treated after the fact
all you want. It's not going to matter unless we get people healthy at a younger age, period.
- And let's talk about free government handouts. I know most of you conservatives think the welfare line is just full of black drug dealers in Escalade's. That's a far cry from reality. But again, that's not the point. In order to help the poor become something other than poor, you need to educate them. We live in a country where the higher the income tax of an area, the more money their school district gets. So the La Jolla's and Orange County's of the world will keep getting the best schools while poor public districts (much like mine) get shafted, and these same folks from La Jolla and Orange County are up in arms when they have to pay for their "welfare". Well, you can't have it both ways people.
- And lastly the environment. I would love to save a tree as much as the next guy. That being said, if countries like China, Vietnam, Laos, Hong Kong, etc will allow our Fortune 500 companies to manufacture in their countries with little or no environmental repercussions, then how in the world do you expect us to compete with that? Or yeah, we can't. So America United and Greenpeace and PETA can keep lobbying companies and jobs right out of America, and when the well finally runs dry, I think they should be the first to the chopping block (looking in your direction Al Gore)...

Clemson regains control of his account

By the way, Property taxes, not income taxes pay for schools and everybody knows the black guys in the welfare line leave the escalades home because they don't want some other gang banger waiting in line tagging it.

lol, so there is hope for you yet. As soon as you realise Money isn't why schools suck, (go look at the DC District, and most private schools) DC spends upwards of 40k a student, and they have some of the worst scores in the nation. Private schools average around 10k and have significantly better test scores. I went to a school where they spent around 6k a year per student. Of the 30 students 6 went to ivy league schools, one is in Harvard Law... The I think 25 of them have college degrees... It isn't money that is the problem. If you can't educate kids with 40k per student to use, you have other problems...
Your problem is you take things at face value, you think the green movement is about saving the environment. You think if we spend more money in school it will magically become better. And that somehow removing the motivation for people to work, ie give them free money. They'll magically start working...

Yes, but do you have the upside or the downside?
Lest you forget, there is two sides to every schwartz.
A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator.
At a morning press conference, the Attorney General Eric Holder said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.
“Al-Gebra is a problem for us,” the Attorney General said. “They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They use secret code names like 'X' and 'Y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.”
As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, “There are three sides to every triangle.”
When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, “If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.”
White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President. It is believed that the Nobel Prize for Physics will follow.
