So I've had the hankering for a 12 guage. I'm not a huge gun person, but I've always wanted to be... I think this would be a good start.

why do you want a gun? Answering this question will point you to what gun you should buy. Sure some guns can be used for everything, but certain guns are made for certain purposes and they make that activity much better then an all around model.

I don’t know about where you are but where I am I can’t have a shotgun with a pistol grip... so I would go with the 590...
But if it was me I would get a nice over and under 12 guage but that’s just me

It is nice to have a pump for home protection you just need to chamber a round and they will leave

he is in texas. He is probably allowed to walk in the grocery store with a pistol grip shot gun to buy milk.

It would have to stay in the truck. A hang gun to buy milk is ok. As long as you have the CHL and no one can see it.
I'm looking for 2 things. Something to go out and have fun shooting. (which I just realized you can only have 2 rounds for shooting clays at a range or 3 when shooting dove) And something for all the sore heads that live near my house.
I'm trying to decide between a pump, or an autoloader.

Either way, actually. I'm probably a little better right handed overall. Just because everything is made for a right handed person.
Correct, most guns are made for right handers, so trying to find a pump or auto for lefties is difficult, plus more expensive.
If your main purpose is to shoot clay, get an over/under. You will love it. Plus you can use it as a lefty.

I'm not worried about shooting right, I shoot right mainly because that is all that is availible. But there is no good reason to change. I liked shooting a double barrel, but it was way more fun to shoot the side by side. However, I don't like the loading process. I much prefer to just slide the shells in the bottom.

it's never about "which one should I get."
It's always "which one should I get FIRST."

the 590 is a good gun I have one real short good window gun for hunting skunks and such
double barrels are extremely expensive for what they are 1000-1500
beretta have lots of safety features wich makes them almost unshootable in a hurry
cream of the crop bennelli m1 never need to own another shotgun again
mossberg-steer clear unless your willing to keep it spotless
I'm a gun nut ww3 I'm ready

lol I googled benelli to find their website, because some of the guys at work also swear by them.
When you spell it bennelli this is the first description.
--Bennelli. Posted by. You had better bring a back up for this Italian junk. Super Black Trash! Read more reviews or share your experience at Gunsreview's ...--

I would go for the benelli M1 too . But that 590 is a nice piece too . The beneli has a lot of technology built into the recoil mechanism . This cutting the recoil down by I think they claim 70% . Its a super nice pump that you can shoot all day with out getting a bruised shoulder .
As for the pistol grip on the mossburg you can order one for about 15-20 dollars and be interchangeable . It takes a Philips

[hr]
driver and a 1/2 socket with a long extension and your in business .
