Rylan1,
You seem to be missing the point. What all these posts are about is the BLATENT double standard here....that Don Imus gets fired for a sexist and racial statement, but Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have said worse than that MANY times and have yet to feel any repercussions (except the fact that most everyone knows they are both idiots).
Maybe you can explain the fairness in that?

I'll second that, maybe they wanted to cancel him and just jumped on the first thing that would fly.

JOP, well, me too.....I have listened to him maybe 4-5 times in the last 20 years.....I don't really find him funny. I don't find Howard Stern very funny either, he does the same tired show every day.
But I am sick to death of Jesse and Al thinking they are the moral voice of this country. They serve the same purpose as flies at a picnic "they eat crap and bother people".

Well, I know that CBS and MSNBC don't care about anybody's opinion (except sponsors), but I wrote both of them a real nasty email about all this, so at least I felt better. I never watch MSNBC but there are a few shows on CBS that I watched......never again.

let me put my 2cents in.Bottom line he got fired because he lost SPONSORES Its was still up for debate until he lost $$$$$ a two week suspension was good enough at first. Trust me those young ladies had no Idea who the man was until some one told them. Maybe people wouln't think it was BS if he made a comment about gays like the guy from greys anatomy
or Tim Hardway. Nobody gives a damn about Jessie Jackson Or AL Sharpton they don't speak 4 all black people. It was a not an issue when he said Serina Williams should model for nation geographic. He kept his job so bottom line its all about the MONEY!!!

While I agree that you should not degrade people because of the color of their skin...or their "class", or their income level or any other reason, there will always be tension amungst the races. Different backrounds, different beliefs, different traditions, different ways of raising kids etc...
On an individual basis, we can get along fine, but as a whole, we never will.
It's like a big pink elephant in the room and if anyone points it out their racist.
Imus was a moron. There was no point in what he said, he was just being downright mean, and I would say the same if he called a bunch of Irish chicks carrot topped drunks. He did get more listeners, but it's sad that he gets credit for being mean.
Racism aside, I support that he lost sponsors for being a ** watch the LANGUAGE!!!**. Money or not it gives the "appearance" that they care.

I've never listened to Imus, he's not even on in the area I live in. but don't tell me it's just about sponsers and money. he had some kind of annual fund raiser for his ranch yesterday and raised $1 million in FIVE HOURS. if he can put that kind of money together in five hours, he obviously has plenty of support.
I like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, but to whoever said they do racial material to raise awareness, THAT is laughable. do this.....
watch the following black comedians: Rock, Chappelle, Paul Mooney, Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer. and tally up percentage-wise how much of their material is racial. actually count how many times they say "white people".
then, watch the following latino comedians: George Lopez, John Leguizamo, Carlos Mencia, and tally up percentage-wise how much of their material is racial. count how many times they say "white people".
then, watch the following white comedians: Robert Schimmel, David Cross, Dave Attell, Mitch Hedberg, Artie Lange, George Carlin and tally up percentage wise how much of their material is racial. actually count how many times they say "black people" or "hispanic people"
I assure you, it's not close. white comedians very rarely do ANY racial material because they know they'll be publicly criticized for it while comedians of other ethnicities have carte blanche to say whatever they want and are considered "cutting edge". in fact, the only white comedian that I know of that consistently does racial material is Lisa Lampanelli, and she's considered possibly the most controversial comedian since Kinnison. that is a double standard.

Interbreed or kill each other off...
As long as in-laws exist, I'm going with the ladder, lol.
Love, Don't take offense. I WISH I was carrot topped, and I really wish I was drunk, lol.
That was me trying to single out and be nice...very hard to do. But I know you know what I meant.

Interbreeding wont solve the problems. Fun thought about diluting eveything out, but who in the heck wants the world to be uniform and equal?
thats how all this political correctness started.

LazyPinoy,
You better believe the outcome would be different. A black man is allowed to say "ho".....listen at random to 10 hip-hop songs and I GUARANTEE you'll hear the word a dozen times. A black man can say the "n" word and it's OK. A black man can even say "white bread" or "cracker" and it's OK....but if a WHITE man says "ho", he gets fired.
It's really pretty simple.....just because Al, Jesse, and some of their other ignorant buddies won't admit it doesn't make it any less true.
