I have worn this ATLEAST 10 times to school.. The superintendent just noticed it today. I told him I have worn it before and he said "well I just now saw it". I was like wt*! He asked me to take it off, and I did, .. for a little bit, but I put it back on.. After the 7th bell (last bell) I was walking to my locker, and he calls me into his office. "If you wear this shirt to school again, it won't be yours" Once again, WT*?! He can't take my shirt.. I have worn it 10 times to school, it apparently isn't too flashy, or an attention getter.
The Principal, and Vice Principal have both seen this shirt, as well as many teachers that thought it was funny..
I know of 3 other people at my school that this shirt..
So what do you all think:
Stand up for my rights to be able to wear a simple T-shirt..
or
Just let it go, and put the shirt deep in the back of my closet?

Personally I dont think it is as bad as he is making it out to be. first off it is aimed at something positive like helping out our planet :)
The way it is worded seems completely acceptable.
I would wear it again.

what do your parents say?
Things are getting crazy. There was a girl here that got suspended for hugging a friend.....not even a full body hug....the kind of hug where you grab the shoulders and lean in.
Public displays of affection are not allowed!

IMO, Unless theres some written rule for that district that he can show you that falls under. Ask him. You have your rights. Unless this Supreme Court takes them away too.

I should've gotten my handbook.. It has to be in my locker somewhere..
I haven't even cracked that thing open yet, and the year's already half way over

as long as they back you with wearing again. Like I said, the girl here ended up on the national news.
Not on purpose, but the local news got wind of it and it snowballed. Her parents were trying to prove the craziness of this particular rule.
The principal will be gunning for you most days I am sure, so if he takes your shirt what is plan "b" ? I am positive he won't let you walk around without a shirt as there is a rule in place for that.

Plan b is that if he physically takes it from you scream sexual abuse. if he demands giving it to him refuse when he suspends you call him a prick and make being suspended justified.

It is kind of funny, but if it was me I wouldn't make a big deal about it, I would just not wear it to school for awhile.

There is nothing offensive on the shirt. If he claims it is, then march him to the science teacher and have him explain why Uranus will be removed from the criteria and not taught about, then call the news.

I thought it was funny
I would have said (and keep in mind that I am the ultimate smartass) "With all the drugs in this school, you find harassing me about a shirt, that no one else seems to have a problem with, a good use or your time and my parents tax money that pays your salary? I think I will have to talk to them about how inefficient their money is being used." Where is the smilies that is shooting a bird that they have on all my motorcycle forums.

Also, ask him to show you in the dress code where your shirt is classified. If he points out "offensive" have him explain. Then turn around and tell him you feel his suit is offensive to you as it shows his upper class pay scale to your pay scale and are offended by his insensibilities to your plight and inability to afford a nice suit. so you are offended by his clothing as it is a direct slap in your face that he has a higher monetary status than you or your family and you are offended.....if that doesn't work, then tell him you and your family will be contacting the news.

last year i was suspended for 2 days for wearing a tshirt that said "i love my girlfriend". i had to call my mom to bring me another shirt and the principal asked me if i was a lesbian. well i got all pissed off but i decided it wouldnt do any good to try to get back at the principal. i didnt think i could do anything to change his mind. well i decided to forget about it and accept that i was not going to win.
aparrently my friends didnt. for the 2 days i was gone about 10 people were given detentions for going to the office and telling the principal he was a pig, etc. EVEN BETTER than that over 30 students paid $5 each to have tshirts made that said "i love alix" on the front and "freedom of expression" on the back. i showed up to school the day they wore the shirts and WOW was i surprised! i wish i had a pic.
well the next day i was called down to the office (i though i was in trouble for orchestrating it, which i didnt) and the principal was furious. aparrently parents had been calling him to complain about the detentions, and my best friends mom actually went to the school to ask him why he though it was ok to ask if i was a lesbian. between that, the tshirt incedent, and my parents threatening to sue, the principal was convinced to apologize to me, and give me full credit for the days i was suspended. they remembered too because this year for christmas i decorated a tshirt like a present and stuck a bow and a name tag to it and wrote from-GOD to-WOMEN on it... and no one said A WORD.
i guess what i am trying to say is that if you can get your parents to complain, or you ask your favorite teacher to talk to the principal, he may let you continue to wear the shirt. you probably shouldnt go as far as i went, but at least give it a shot, because you may accomplish something. if not, oh well, its just a shirt.
