Hi all, I've been reading up a lot on the importance of having detrivores in the sand bed of our tanks. However, these discussions usually revolve around the DSB, refugiums, and or reef tanks.
My question is what about the folks that have a FOWLR, no refg. and a sandbed that is about 1 to 2 inches deep?
The reason I ask is that the rock that I got was not live (other than bacteria) and the sand that I got was one of those bagged things that I doubt had any infauna.
I bought a little LR from the LFS to get something going. I also got some sediment from their huge LR curing vats.
Should I get one of those kits? They look awesome but are expensive... what do you guys think.
How important is it that I get this going? BTW my tank is fishless cause my fish got ich and are in qt.
Thanks!
